SACRAMENTS ARE EFFICACIOUS SIGNS
OF GRACE,
INSTITUTED BY CHRIST,
AND ENTRUSTED TO THE CHURCH,
BY WHICH DIVINE LIFE
IS GIVEN.
Baptism is the first Sacrament of Initiation by which we are freed from all sin, endowed with the gift of divine life, made members of the Church, and called to holiness and mission.
For Catholics, the Sacrament of Baptism is the first step in a lifelong journey of commitment and discipleship. Whether we are baptized as infants or adults, Baptism is the Church's way of celebrating and enacting the embrace of God.
Baptisms of infants and young children are celebrated at weekend Mass, except during Lent. Parents must be registered, practicing Catholics, and must attend a Baptismal seminar, which is held on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. Parents not married in the Church must meet with a priest or deacon regarding validation of their marriage. Godparents must be Catholic, at least 16 years of age, Confirmed, and practicing their faith. Please contact the office for further information or to make arrangements.
The Church has established the Rite of Christian Initiation for Children (RCIC) to prepare older children for Baptism. Contact our DRE for more information.
If you are an adult interested in being Baptized, we invite you to speak to one of our clergy.
